Amanda J. Markham is the founder and managing attorney of The Markham Law Firm, PLLC, a Houston-based law firm focused on divorce and family law. She represents clients navigating significant personal and financial transitions with a combination of strategic advocacy, meticulous preparation, and straightforward guidance.
Before becoming an attorney, Amanda spent several years working as a litigation and transactional paralegal. In that capacity, she managed complex caseloads, supported attorneys through every phase of litigation, assisted with trial preparation, and worked on matters involving business formation, contracts, and estate planning. Her extensive experience behind the scenes of legal practice gave her a practical understanding of how strong cases are developed — and how careful preparation can influence a client's outcome.
Amanda later practiced as an associate attorney at a Houston litigation firm, where she represented clients in complex civil and commercial disputes. This litigation background now informs her approach to family law: she examines the details, anticipates potential challenges, and prepares each matter with the precision required for high-stakes negotiations and courtroom proceedings.
Amanda understands that divorce and custody disputes involve far more than legal filings. These matters can affect a client's children, financial security, home, business interests, and sense of stability. She therefore takes the time to understand what is truly at stake, explain the available options clearly, and develop a strategy designed to protect both the client's immediate interests and long-term future.
Clients value Amanda's ability to bring calm direction to emotionally charged circumstances. She is compassionate without losing sight of the objective, candid without being dismissive, and prepared to advocate decisively when cooperation is no longer productive. Her goal is to ensure that each client feels informed, supported, and confidently represented throughout the legal process.
Amanda earned her Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Houston–Downtown and completed her studies in Paralegal Studies at the University of Houston. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
Through The Markham Law Firm, Amanda provides the sophisticated, attentive representation clients need when the life they planned begins to change — because the end of a marriage is not the end of everything that matters.
